Missed Period Negative Pregnancy Test

Help!  What does missed period negative pregnancy test mean?

One of the hardest things is not knowing if you are pregnant or not. Either way, you want to know so that you can take some sort of control over the situation.  Here are answers to your questions.

What does a missed period negative pregnancy test mean?

There are a variety of reasons that you may miss your period and not be pregnant.

You may miss your period due to severe illness.  High fevers, in particular may change your reproductive cycle.

For women who watch their calories closely or are not consuming enough calories, your body may stop cycling until it decides that the “famine” is over.

If you have been on birth control pills for an extended amount of time, you will often have very light periods and sometimes no period at all.

Certain types of birth control methods like shots or implants will cause you to have no period.

There are also a variety of reasons why you may have a negative pregnancy test even when you are pregnant.

You may have a negative pregnancy test because your urine did not have enough HcG in it to be detected.  This can happen if you have been drinking alot of water or early in your pregnancy, before your HcG levels have risen enough to be detected.

Additionally, if you used a regular pregnancy test as opposed to an early pregnancy test, the test itself may not be sensitive enough to detect the HcG levels early on.

Our preferred method to ensure that this does not happen is to test our first urine of the morning.

According to WebMD, Home pregnancy tests are about 97% effective, but only if you follow the instructions to the letter.  You can get a negative test even when you are pregnant if you don’t get the proper amount of urine on the test strip.

Our preferred method to ensure that this does not happen is to use a cup to collect urine mid stream and then place the test strip into the urine for the prescribed number of seconds indicated in the directions.

Could I be pregnant?

Yes, you could be pregnant with a missed period negative pregnancy test.

The only way to know for sure is to either go to your doctor and get a blood test or wait a couple days and test again using your first urine of the morning and an early detection pregnancy test like those offered by Clear Blue or www.early-pregnancy-tests.com.

What should I do?

If it were us, here is what we would do.

  • First and foremost, take a deep breath. What will be, will be.
  • Second, wait a couple days
  • Third, obtain an early pregnancy test and test again first thing in the morning using the urine collection method.

We hope that whether you want to be pregnant or not, you get the outcome that you are hoping for!
